Mitchell Hooper Wins the Strongman Classic: A Historic Victory
Mitchell Hooper emerged victorious at this year's Strongman Classic in London, delivering a historic performance that secured him the title. After two consecutive years of finishing in the top three at the Strongman Classic, Hooper finally claims the 1st place title.
Hooper made his intentions clear from the outset, setting a new world record in the axle press with a 218kg lift. This impressive feat put him ahead of his competitors, with Tom Stoltman and Pavlo Kordiyaka both lifting 195kg. This early lead established the momentum that would carry Hooper through the rest of the competition.
The next event saw Hooper continue his dominance, taking first place in the 360kg axle deadlift with eight reps. This performance tied the world record for the axle deadlift and narrowly edged out Matthew Ragg, who finished in second place. Hooper's strength and endurance in this grueling event further solidified his lead.
While Hooper did not finish first in every event, his consistency was key to his overall victory. He secured a second-place finish in the Conan's Wheel, one of the few events where he didn't top the leaderboard. However, he quickly rebounded by setting a world record in the wrecking ball hold, managing to hold a 267kg sphere for an incredible 118.72 seconds.
Hooper faced a significant challenge in the castle stones event, finishing 11th as Tom Stoltman took the top spot. Despite this setback, Hooper's substantial lead in the previous events ensured that this result did not impact his overall standings significantly. Hooper concluded the competition with a total of 49 points, securing his victory. Tom Stoltman finished in second place with 47 points, while an impressive performance from Pavlo Kordiyaka earned him third place.
This victory at the Strongman Classic caps off an extraordinary year for Mitchell Hooper. He also claimed titles at the 2024 Arnold Strongman Classic and the Arnold Pro Strongman World Series and finished second in the World's Strongest Man competition. Hooper's achievements have firmly established him as a leading figure in the world of strongman competitions.
