Can I Use AIRWAAV if I Have Braces?
Yes! If you have braces, we recommend choosing the AIRWAAV Performance PX1.
Why PX1?
- The PX1 has a wider bite channel, which offers a better, more comfortable fit over braces compared to our other models.
- It’s engineered to adapt to your bite without putting unnecessary pressure on your brackets.
- Important note: When fitting the mouthpiece, don’t push the material into your braces. Instead, gently bite down and allow the material to fall over your brackets naturally.
Note: We do not recommend using the PX2 or RX1 models with braces, as their narrower channels are not designed for orthodontic appliances.
Can I Use AIRWAAV if I Have a Retainer?
This depends on your specific retainer and your orthodontist’s guidance. If you have a fixed retainer (permanent wire), the PX1 may still fit comfortably, but we recommend checking with your dental professional before molding or using any mouthpiece.
If you have a removable retainer, you should remove it while using AIRWAAV to ensure a proper fit and avoid damaging your retainer.
What If I Get Braces After I’ve Molded My AIRWAAV?
No problem—you can remold your AIRWAAV PX1 Performance Mouthpiece to fit over your braces.
How to remold:

Reheat the mouthpiece following the instructions in your AIRWAAV kit or our How to Fit page.

Re-bite to create a new impression that accommodates your braces.
- When molding, don’t push the material into your braces. Instead, gently bite down and allow the material to fall over your brackets naturally.

Which Models Should I Avoid with Braces?
If you have braces, do not use the PX2 or RX1 models. Their snug fit and narrower bite channels are not compatible with braces and could cause discomfort or damage.
