The Individual Quarterfinals for the 2023 NOBULL CrossFit Games have come and gone, and the fittest athletes from each region have been determined. This stage of the season separated the top 10% of individual athletes from the CrossFit Games Open by region, and over the course of three days, athletes were tasked with completing five tests, one to two tests in a 24-hour window. The top athletes from each region will now advance to the Semifinals, the last qualifying stage for the CrossFit Games.
The Quarterfinals saw the introduction of new movements, including chest-to-wall handstand push-ups, double-under crossovers, and V-ups. Athletes were tested with chest-to-wall handstand push-ups and crossovers right out of the gate on Day 1, and the V-up was introduced during Test 4. These movements showed up sooner than expected, but the AIRWAAV Athletes were able to rise to the challenge and perform well.
In North America East, 60 women and 60 men will be advancing to the Semifinals. Among the women, Emma Cary took 3rd place, Anikha Greer took 4th, and Danielle Brandon took 7th. Among the men, Dallin Pepper took 1st place and James Sprague took 9th place.
In North America West, 60 men will be advancing to the Semifinals. AIRWAAV’s newest Athlete, Cole Greashaber, took 3rd place and Samuel Kwant took 15th place.
Overall, the Individual Quarterfinals showcased the hard work and dedication of the fittest CrossFit athletes from around the world. The Semifinals will be the last qualifying stage for the CrossFit Games, and it will be exciting to see who will make it to the final stage of the competition. With new movements being introduced earlier than expected, it will be interesting to see what other surprises are in store for the athletes in the next stages of the competition.
